MCI unveils new zero-emission battery-electric commuter coach

NFI Group Inc., a leading buses, coach and electric mass mobility solution manufacturer, has announced that subsidiary Motor Coach Industries (MCI) has unveiled its new zero-emission commuter coach. The D45 CRT LE CHARGE will be NFI’s fourth electric vehicle (EV) that the brand has introduced in 2021.

The new battery-electric coach, simply named the D45 CRT LE CHARGE, uses high-torque electric drive systems for operation at motorway speeds. It features plug-in battery technology that allows charging to 100 percent in less than three hours.

“It follows MCI’s introduction of the J4500 CHARGE, New Flyer’s Xcelsior CHARGE NG, and ARBOC’s Equess CHARGE, all leveraging shared EV technology. Together, NFI’s market-leading portfolio is enabling scalable zero-emission deployment across North America.”

The easily accessible D45 CRT LE CHARGE is a high-performance electric coach that features enhanced regenerative braking and next-generation, high-energy batteries. As a consequence, it can deliver over 170 miles (274km) of range in the 389kWh model and over 230 miles (370km) in the 544 kWh model.
