Herrera School Buses and Coaches Inc. invests in rider safety with NFI Parts™
Louisville, Kentucky, USA – December 7, 2020: the parts subsidiary of NFI Group Inc. (“NFI”), one of the world’s leading independent bus manufacturers, has received an order from Herrera School Buses and Coaches Inc. (“Herrera”) to equip half their MCI coach fleet with a wide range of products from the Clean and Protect line.
Included in the order are cleaning products and fogging machines which will be used before and after vehicles are put in service. Six coaches in Herrera’s fleet are to be outfitted with driver protection barriers, ventilated air hatches, UV light kits, and antimicrobial filters. These technologies are put in place to improve social distancing between drivers and passengers, and to assist in disinfecting and improving air circulation.
“A complete response strategy is what all transportation services need during these unprecedented times,” said Scott Robertson, Vice President of Customer Service at NFI Parts. “As we addressed in our white paper on transportation safety, there is no one solution to reduce the spread of COVID-19. A more holistic approach is how to approach our ‘new normal’; when Herrera decided that this was what they were going to do, we wanted to be part of the process and help them develop a plan that would work for their fleet.”
Clean and Protect products each work to support the four principles of transportation safety: Distancing, Disinfecting, Air Quality and PPE. These areas can help improve the safety onboard motor coaches and are critical steps toward restoring the consumer confidence needed to restart the industry. More information on the four principles of transportation safety can be found here.
“Keeping our community safe is so important,” said Steve Herrera, Coaches Supervisor at Herrera. “We have a unique connection to the people of New Mexico; at Herrera we work with people we know. We are doing everything we can to make our fleet as safe as it can be.” Herrera Coaches is celebrating its 79th year in business. Originally a school bus company, the coach phase of the business was started in 1982 with one Coach, today there are 28. In 2003, the company purchased a new location, where it currently runs the coach division. Drivers are local residents and are knowledgeable of the western areas of the United States.
The strong partnership between NFI Parts and its supply network has resulted in inventory on high demand items to be available for purchase. Due to the popularity of the Clean and Protect products, customers are encouraged to reach out to their NFI Parts customer service representative as quickly as possible to minimize lead times.
