STANDARD CHASSIS FEATURES & EQUIPMENT
ACCESS PANEL, ELECTRICAL
Will be located below the driver's window providing access to the main electrical front junction panel. A second junction box will be located in the #3 baggage compartment.
 
AIR CONDITIONER / HEATER
  • A main under-floor unit will be located behind the #2 baggage compartment, and will contain ducting; filters; heater core; evaporator; and centrifugal type blowers modulated by controls on the driver's instrument panel. All air will pass through a replaceable filter, through the evaporator and heater cores, then will be discharged through ducts and air outlets along the side windows.
  • A six-cylinder Carrier 05G compressor will be mounted in the engine compartment. Equipped with two electrical unloaders, it will load and unload automatically based on pressure to prevent coil freeze-up.
  • A Proheat XL-45 45,000 BTU/hr (maximum rated), diesel-fired auxiliary heater will be provided to augment the temperature of engine coolant for coach heating. There will be a separate driver's HVAC module.
 
AIR-OPERATED ENTRANCE DOOR
  • An electrically controlled, air-operated, power sedan-style door with keyed lock will be located forward of the right front wheel.
  • A momentary switch for driver's door control in the right hand switch panel and a positive automatic air lock with overrule will be provided as well.
  • There will be a diagonal stainless steel tubing grab rail with ample knuckle clearance.
 
ALTERNATOR

Delco-Remy 50 DN 270 A, 12/24V, oil cooled

 
AXLES
  • 16,000 lb front.
  • 22,500 lb drive; single reduction differential ratios of 4.30:1 or 4.56:1.
  • 10,000 lb tag; all wheel bearings oil-lubricated.
 
BATTERY
Four Delco 1150 maintenance-free batteries.
 
BRAKES
  • Emergency:
    MGM dual-type drive axle brake; automatic and manually-activated push-pull valves located in the driver's area.
  • Anti-lock:
    Meritor Q Plus™ brakes will be installed on all axles; MGM spring-type 30/36 brake chambers will be installed on the drive axle. Brake drums will be 16.5 x 6.0 for front, 16.5 x 8.62 for drive, and 15.0 x 5.0 for tag.
 
BUMPERS
  • Front bumper will be made of black urethane rubber.
  • Romeo Rim energy absorbing on the rear.
 
COMPARTMENTS
  • Luggage:
    Pass-through luggage compartments with volume capacity of 326 cubic feet space. Flooring for this space will be lined with aluminum panels.
  • Service:
    Service doors are generally held closed by quarter-turn slotted-head fasteners for easy opening.
 
DRIVE LINE

Meritor 1810 Series with the following to be featured:

  • Engine:
    Detroit Diesel Series 60; 435 HP; 12.7 L; High torque.
  • Exhaust System:
    Heavy-duty aluminized steel exhaust muffler located on the left side of the engine. Exhaust outlet to be at the rear roadside corner of the coach below bumper.
  • Transmission:
    Allison B500 World transmission; electronically-controlled, six-speed automatic.
 
FLOOR
  • Stepwell, entrance and ramp aisle equipped with either ribbed rubber RCA flooring or Altro flooring.
  • Driver's center-aisle and under-seat is smooth rubber RCA flooring or Altro flooring.
 
HATCHES / VENTS
Two escape hatches that may also be used for ventilation are roof-mounted; one above drive axle area and one above front axle area. Hatch locations may vary if the BOP option is selected.

Insulation throughout the coach body is made of or in combination/composition of either one or more of the following:

  • Resin-coated medium density fiberglass
  • High density fiberglass
  • Polyurethane foam
  • A 0.037" fiberglass vapor barrier
  • Mylar-faced foam
  • 16-gauge noiseless stainless steel
  • Aluminum Mylar-faced acoustic composite (of foam and vinyl barium sulfate)
 
SHADES

Sunscreens, held in place by guide rods at each end, can be operated manually. Four roll-down vinyl sunscreens with an upper nylon mesh will be provided as follows:

  • One each at the right and left windshields
  • One at the driver's side window
  • One at the upper driver's windscreen (Deleted with BSIE option)

If the BOP option is selected, vinyl covered sun visors will be utilized in lieu of roll-down vinyl sunscreens.

 
SHOCK ABSORBERS

For front, drive and tag axles, the following will be featured:

  • Double acting
  • Telescopic-type
  • Polyurethane bushings
 
STEERING AND CONTROLS
  • Tilt and telescoping steering column
  • Dimmer switch for reading lights (first two rows)
  • Self-canceling directional signal switch
  • Hazard signal switch
  • Headlamp switch
  • Instrument panel rheostat-controlled lighting
  • Key-type starter switch and engine stop
  • An ergonomic dashboard is provided which gives easy access to all vital functions
 
STEERING GEAR
Ross series TAS85 integral steering unit incorporating the control valve, power cylinder, and steering mechanism into a single package.
 
SUSPENSION

Air suspension will be provided at each axle to absorb vertical loads on axles and maintain consistent coach height within the gross vehicle weight limitations.

  • Front:
    Front axle suspension will be equipped with two rolling lobe type air spring bellows; nominal 9.5 inches (241.3 mm) in diameter and one height control valve.
  • Drive:
    This will be equipped with four rolling lobe type air spring bellows; nominal 9.5 inches (241.3 mm) in diameter.
  • Trailing:
    This will be equipped with two rolling lobe-type air spring bellows; nominal 9.5 inches (241.3 mm) in diameter.
 
TIRES
Nine Michelin XZA-1 tubeless tires, 315/80R; 22.5; L-rated.
 
WINDOWS

Driver's:

  • A fixed full-vision driver's window.
  • Window framed in black anodized aluminum.
  • Will include a large lower window which will slide from back to front of coach.
  • Glass will be double-glazed, AS-2 laminated heat absorbing safety-type with a 9-inch (229-mm) opaque mask applied to the top portion of the window.

Passenger's:
Seven large passenger side windows will be provided on each side of the coach. They will be:

  • Rubber mounted to a black anodized aluminum frame.
  • Single-glazed AS-3 laminated heat absorbing safety glass.
  • A 45-inch (1,143-mm) continuous hinge at the top of each pre-hung sash will be provided.
  • All sashes will be interchangeable left to right and front to rear, except for the rear-most (#7) side sashes.

Provisions for emergency escape:
Lifting the release bar at the lower edge that disengages safety latches may push out each sash. Emergency instructions on metal plates will be attached to the release bars at each seat location.

 
WINDSHIELD WIPERS

Two heavy-duty electrically controlled, self-parking Bosch wiper systems will be provided, one for each windshield. They will feature:

  • Variable intermittent or constant wiper speed as dictated by control adjustment.
  • Wiper motors can be removable by way of access panels at the front of the coach.
  • Each motor will incorporate a 0.63-inch (16.00-mm) diameter drive shaft.
  • Pantograph wet-type wiper arms with 26-inch (660-mm) flexible wiper blades mounted in a holder.
