FYI from MCI™

News worth stopping for: MCI introduces premium Lucas air disc brakes

Committed to offering the best new technology on its coaches, MCI is now rolling out its E4500, J4500 and newer D- Series (D4505 and D4005) models with Meritor Lucas EX225 air disc brakes as standard equipment. The contemporary (CT) and classic (CL) D-Series coaches will include the brakes as an option, with drum brakes featured as standard equipment.

Operators will find much to like in Lucas EX225 brakes, billed as the best braking package in the industry. Offering top braking efficiency with minimal brake fade — even under heavy, frequent use — the EX225 brakes are engineered for performance, safety and easy maintenance.

It starts with the engineering. Improved symmetry lends more stability to braking, with stopping distances that are typically 20 to 30 percent better than with traditional drum brakes. Among the Meritor Lucas innovations are a free-sliding caliper that allows for even force on inner and outer brake pads; a rotor made of special alloy material for long life and outstanding friction; high-volume brake lining pads for longer life as well as uniform wear and consistent performance; and a unique design that prevents accidental disengagement of pistons during service.
