FYI from MCI™

Coach styles of the rich & famous: MCI to offer conversion-ready E4500 shells

The MCI® E4500 has been transformed into a rolling home office for NFL broadcaster John Madden, a road-show billboard for QVC, and a transport vehicle for contestants in "The Amazing Race," a reality TV show. Trends point to continued stable sales for conversion shells, and as one of two coach manufacturers serving the market, MCI plans to strengthen its presence by offering in-stock conversion-ready shells of its luxurious E4500 model.

"Our E4500 is ideal for conversion because of its sleek good looks, smooth ride and easy maneuverability," said Jay Daab, MCI vice president of conversion sales. "When you're on the road touring or vacationing, you need a vehicle that's dependable and easy to manage for the driver."

MCI, which worked with BMW Designworks USA to design the model, backs up the E4500 with a three-year warranty, the longest in the industry, and Emergency Roadside Assistance, managed in-house and available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Currently, MCI has several E4500 shells ready for immediate conversion and is laying the groundwork for a new service facility centrally located in an entertainment hot spot. Additionally, the company will be offering an entertainer coach for Entertainer leasing companies to use as a demo. The demo coach is outfitted with individual bunks, a state-of-the-art entertainment system, galleys and plenty of storage space.

MCI has proudly served the conversion market for decades. The late Johnny Cash wrote fondly about his big, black MCI band bus in his autobiography. And Coach Madden routinely shows off his free-wheeling MCI home to millions of football fans.

"MCI became the leader in the seated tour market by building coaches of quality and reliability and for our unique ability to support coach operators running in revenue service," said Daab. "Now, as a company, we're eagerly bringing those capabilities to support operators and leasing companies in the entertainment coach market."

The mainstay of the company's conversion-shell business, the luxurious MCI E4500 has been breaking aesthetic and engineering ground since the Beach Boys serenaded its 1997 unveiling. From its patented spiral entryway to under-the-hood bells and whistles like full multiplexing, LED lighting, onboard tire-pressure monitoring system, and steerable tag axle, the E4500 is built to handle the road like a pro.

Today, the E4500 is even better, with an improved ride, stronger sway bar, ECAS system and the biggest storage capacity of any coach in its class. The E4500 shell has an increased roof height of six inches and features side-docking lights and extras that make it a star in its own right, such as a 47-foot turning radius to handle the tight spots.

Work with a good converter, and the sky's the limit for the E4500. MCI shells have been outfitted with steam showers, gourmet granite kitchens, satellite broadcasting equipment and more. Modifications expand the possibilities even further, and MCI is always willing to work with converters to find creative solutions and fill unique needs, according to Daab.

MCI is committed to the long road. Many MCIs run for a million miles or more. Says Daab, "MCI makes life on the road look good." To find out more call Jay Daab at 847-285-2171 or e-mail at conversion@mcicoach.com.
