MCI rolls out new wheelchair-lift user guides

MCI operators will soon start finding their E4500 and J4500 wheelchair lifts easier to use. MCI Service Parts is now offering wheelchair-lift user guides that are easy to use with all new and existing E4500 and J4500 coaches.

The guides will be offered as kits that include a pocket card for at-a-glance lift operation of the automatic wheelchair lift as well as a fold-out card to assist drivers in operating the lift manually. About the size of a credit card, the pocket card is simple to use, with step-by-step numbered instructions for deploying the lift on one side and instructions for stowing the lift on the other. "We designed it to be easy so that complete novices should be able to operate the lift just by referring to this card," says Skip Neff, senior technical advisor.

The fold-out card is made to be stowed onboard and used as reference should a driver need or choose to deploy the lift manually.

MCI also offers a training video that instructs drivers and operators on the proper use of the wheelchair lift and the interaction with passengers needing to use it. The video is available on DVD as well as streaming video on the MCI website.
