Understanding bulletins to improve your fleet

Maintaining a coach can be a strenuous and sometimes stressful job. We at MCI take pride in finding ways to make your job easier by supplying you with the latest in changes and improvements that not only improve your fleet, but bring the coach up to current production standards. We also keep you up to date on the latest improvements in design, service procedures and maintenance requirements by periodically issuing bulletins. These bulletins are in one of three forms:

  • Field Change Program or (FCP) Bulletins, designed to enhance the safety and reliability of your coach — these generally involve changes that must be performed on your coach.

  • Product Improvement (PI) Bulletins, issued to bring your attention to production changes — these allow you to make make the changes.

  • Service Information (SI) Bulletins, issued to provide up-to-date information for the maintenance and/or operation of a specific operating system on your coach.

You may wonder why is it important to comply with service bulletins, especially those that do not involve obviously mandatory changes. With the rising cost of keeping your coaches' wheels turning, it is important to maximize fuel mileage and extend the life of routine items such as belts, hoses, batteries and tires. A bulletin may also give you the option of adding a feature to your motor coach that wasn't available when your coach was built, which, in turn, may improve your profitability or resale value. And by improving your coach's reliability, serviceability and functionality, you can help prevent roadside malfunctions or failures.

Performing service as required or recommended by bulletins is vital to the longevity of your motor coach. The latest service bulletins can be viewed at or by contacting the MCI Technical Call Center at 800-241-2947. By keeping your operating costs down, you keep your customers' costs down, allowing you to be more responsive to market conditions, with more predictability in your fleet.
