Five reasons to attend the ABA Marketplace

Summer may seem far away, but forward-thinking operators are already planning trips and investigating hot new destinations. Billed as the premier business event for the group-travel industry, the ABA Marketplace will run January 15 through January 19 at Gaylord National, National Harbor, Maryland. MCI will be there and so should you. Here are five reasons to mark your calendar.

  1. Seven minutes could change your life. Or at least your year.

The ABA Marketplace is built around scheduled seven-minute meetings between buyers and sellers of travel. One great meeting could spark ideas for a new trip or activity that could help make next year your best ever.

  2. See what's new

Hundreds of vendors participate in the Product Pavilion, displaying their latest innovations and business-builders. Additionally, MCI will be on the Networking Floor all week, showcasing one of Peter Pan's newest J4500s. Peter Pan has recently undergone a rebranding effort, and its newly purchased, state-of-the-art coaches come  equipped with custom-fabric seating, Wi-Fi, electrical outlets and wide-screen video monitors. MCI will also have one of its demo J4500 coaches on display. See the latest MCI technological advances and additional safety features offered (including three-point seatbelts) as well as passenger-pleasing appointments such as ambient lighting and impressive entertainment systems. MCI will also offer test-drive opportunities so operators can experience the J4500's ESC and other handling features for themselves.

  3. Dinearound with MCI.

MCI invites operators to dine January 18 at the Roof Terrace Restaurant at the Kennedy Center. Boasting amazing 360-degree views that take in the Potomac River along with the city's monuments and memorials, it's sure to be an evening you'll remember.

  4. Help someone in need

The ABA Marketplace offers several opportunities to give to charity through its "Marketplace Gives Back" tours and events benefiting the Yellow Ribbon Fund. But that's not your only charitable opportunity. MCI will host a "Going for the Green" putting challenge benefiting the ABA Foundation's scholarships. MCI will match your putts (one putt $5, five putts for $20) and donations up to $5,000. All putts earn an instant prize; if you get a hole-in-one, you'll be entered into a drawing for a cash prize. Additionally, MCI will have John Madden sports memorabilia for sale at the Marketplace auction.

  5. Have fun

The ABA Marketplace always offers up a full menu of great tours, attractions and activities, along with excellent educational seminars.  See the areas surrounding Washington, DC, get a taste of Broadway, sample Branson talent, do the twist, take a class and network your wheels off.
