MCI SERVICE INFORMATION Retarder Accumulator Air Leak A severe air leak at the solenoid for the Retarder Accumulator in the RH engine compartment may leak so quickly that you cannot move the coach because of low air. It is possible to disconnect the air line that feeds that solenoid and plug it until a replacement solenoid can be obtained. The down side of disconnecting this airline is the retarder. Though still working, it will apply slowly instead of instantly. The accumulator serves to supply a reservoir of transmission oil that is sent to the transmission as soon as the retarder is requested and allows instant response.Contact your local Allison Transmission dealer for the details. |
