Intelligent technology makes MCI models smarter. One of the brightest technologies is Electronic Stability Control. ESC
automatically assists drivers when the coach is reaching a critical threshold, acting faster and more effectively than a driver
can manually. Frequently, activation takes place before the driver is even aware of the need.

With ESC |
ESC is designed to assist in maintaining vehicle control in critical situations. The system detects rapid directional changes, excessive speed entering a curve, or a sudden lane change. When critical lateral acceleration is measured, RSC (Roll Stability Control), included in ESC, intervenes, reducing engine torque, and, if needed, applying appropriate pressure to the brake system. ESC further assists by determining the level of engine and brake adjustments needed according to rollover risk.

Without ESC |
Road conditions can quickly become dangerous due to hazardous weather or man-made obstacles. ESC detects if the vehicle's direction deviates from the steering inputs due to slippery or other road conditions or if the driver veers erratically from a desired path. ESC reacts to inputs from steer and yaw angle sensing. If the coach exceeds directional stability limits, engine torque is reduced and pressure is applied to individual brakes as needed to counteract directional instabilities, so the driver is more likely to maintain control of the coach.

| Dash indicators light up when ESC is engaged |
A dash indicator lamp lets the driver know that ESC is active, and the driver will notice a difference when ESC is functioning. When ESC activates, the driver must continue to steer and use the brake pedal or accelerator as may be appropriate and / or necessary under the circumstances, thus helping the driver control the coach without compromising the smooth, steady MCI ride.
MCI has added the Meritor WABCO Electronic Stability Control System (ESC) to its J4500 model along with a wide-ride suspension for a new level of superior riding comfort and performance. MCI's D4505, Commuter Coach, and other D-Series clean-diesel models (other than the Hybrid) also feature the Meritor WABCO Electronic Stability Control system.
A Leader in Stability Control.
Known for both high value and innovation, Meritor WABCO was the first to pioneer stability systems for commercial vehicles and offers a proven track record of success with more systems running on the road than its competitors combined.*
A wise investment
ESC increases passenger confidence and protection. It's a feature you can market to your customers, setting you apart as a safety leader.
A bottom-line asset
Lowering the risk of accidents protects your investment, the integrity of your coach, and your safety record.

MCI's ESC systems are intended only to aid drivers; no system can prevent loss of control or rollover in all situations. An alert, unimpaired, well-trained, licensed driver remains the most important element in ensuring that physical limits of the coach are not exceeded.
